Peter O’Toole remains an iconic actor. Even though he never won an Academy Award, he is still highly regarded and respected. Perhaps best-known for Lawrence of Arabia and The Lion in Winter, Peter O’Toole was an established film star. Besides playing historical figures, he also tackled highly controversial roles. One of the most (in)famous is The Ruling Class.
A Toast!
First of all, Peter O’Toole definitely deserved his Academy Award nomination for his starring role. His role as “Jack” in this film is nothing like Jack Dawson in Titanic (1997). Even though this film is highly controversial because of its subject matter, it is still a very interesting adaptation of Peter Barnes’s musical stage play.

Obviously, this film could definitely offend devout Christians (as well as any religious person who believes in God).
Verdict
This film might be darkly satirical, but it still explores what it means to be human in spite of differing social classes.
