Acting is tough, and not just in Hollywood. In fact, performing on stage could just as well be as hard as acting in front of a camera. Furthermore, melodrama and passion for the arts oftentimes do result in dire consequences. That is one of the main lessons from the film Being Julia.
A Toast!
First of all, Annette Bening definitely delivers one of her best performances in this film. Additionally, it is just about as powerful as her leading role in American Beauty (1999). Ironically, Bening lost the “Best Actress” Academy Award both times to Hilary Swank.
Beer Two
Unfortunately, this film does offer quite a bit of “R”-rated sexuality.
Verdict
Being an actor is hard enough, but being oneself is one of the best ways to live life itself!
