Leslie Howard was an amazing actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood. His roles include William Shakespeare’s Romeo as well as Ashley Wilkes in Gone with the Wind. Even though he had never won an Academy Award, he did receive recognition. In fact, his leading performance in Berkeley Square is one of his best films.
A Toast!
First of all, Leslie Howard is phenomenal as Peter Standish. Furthermore, the film is a lovely adaptation of the stage play by John L. Balderston.

Unfortunately, the plot does feature elements of fantasy that could potentially cause disconnections from reality.

Finally, this film has nothing to do with the University of California – Berkeley (pun intended)!
