“Cinderella” is perhaps the quintessential fairy tale. There are many film versions of that story, including the 2015 live-action Disney remake. Because of the enduring qualities associated with that timeless tale, some films would include her name within the title. An example is Cinderella Man (2005). Interestingly, one of the most off-beat romantic dramas is entitled Cinderella Liberty.
A Toast!
This is a truly compelling love story! First of all, Marsha Mason delivers an Oscar-worthy performance in this film as “Maggie Paul.” Furthermore, just like the 1950 Disney animated classic, Cinderella Liberty has wonderful music. Specifically, the song, “Nice to Be Around” is one of the best features of this wildly romantic film. Finally, it was really fortunate that Darryl Ponicsan adapted his own novel for the silver screen!
Verdict
Some film adaptations of “Cinderella” take liberties from the original plot, but Cinderella Liberty is a unique film in its own right.
