Life itself is oftentimes the greatest gift of all. Some would say that the narrative from birth until the end is the best story. Writers have written to understand the meaning of life. Filmmakers would take those artistic creations to present those publications visually to reach wider audiences. One of the best examples of an adaptation of a story that captures life itself is David Copperfield.
A Toast!
This is truly a remarkable motion picture! Maureen O’Sullivan excels as Dora. W.C. Fields is brilliant as “Micawber,” which is a pun for “macabre.” The real star of this film, though, is Frank Lawton as the eponymous protagonist. David Copperfield is a Bildungsroman, which is a coming-of-age story. His journey through life is truly timeless!
Verdict
This film is much more than an adaptation of a Charles Dickens novel. It is a testament to what it means to live!
