It took three years, but Dan Tuffy’s Letters of Gold is an excellent follow-up. Featuring a medley of alt country and the blues and heavy use of electric guitar, you will definitely enjoy Tuffy’s brand of songwriting and storytelling.
With 30 years of rich music experience behind him, Tuffy’s Letters of Gold shows his musical prowess, but this album is very modern sounding. Utilizing an extensive roster of artists young and old, Tuffy uses his musical armor to deliver eight tracks of finely tuned and crafted, original tracks.
You really feel Tuffy’s love of his native Australia in “Home Fires”, and get behind the very electric but bluesy and bittersweet “Time Stole My Angel”, which is dedicated to his kids.
“Sandy Tracks” is where you really get that alt country brand feel, sounding polished with a bit of blues mixed in. “Eternity” is another standout track that will get you thinking the album suddenly turned to a folksier direction.
Letters of Gold is one album you won’t need more than a beer to enjoy. Go take a listen to one of the more original works of music released in a long time.
