Sinclair Lewis was the first American novelist to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. In fact, he was a social critic. Because of his enduring legacy, it is no surprise that Hollywood would adapt his stories. One of the best examples is Dodsworth.
A Toast!
First of all, this was one of the best films from early Hollywood history. Furthermore, the film features Oscar-winning production design. Aside from its visual design, the screenplay that Sidney Howard wrote is dazzling. Additionally, this film features incredible acting from Walter Huston and Maria Ouspenskaya.
Verdict
Finally, this is one of the greatest “Best Picture” nominees that William Wyler directed!
