For those who didn’t pay attention in school, High Chair’s third in a trilogy of albums’ name comes from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. But besides the Shakespeare reference, there are references to other literary works which makes Hey Mountain Hey a unique, progressive rock album. It’s a music high point and a must listen album.
Ten tracks make up this eclectic album, delivering good, solid musicianship. The guitar is central to many of the tracks, as well as psychedelia infused sounds. Wind instruments are also vital to Hey Mountain Hey’s overall sound, alongside beautiful harmonic voices and lyrics that are just soulful.
Hey Mountain Hey likely won’t have the mass appeal other prog rock bands enjoy, but for die-hard music fans searching for something that sounds like nothing else, this may be a good musical find.
