Love Gets a Room (2023) Movie Drinking Game
Down a Shot: each time the Sergeant hams it up and/or yells for back-up
Down a Shot: every time Stefcia and Edmund navigate the conflict in their relationship through song and dance.

A fearful troupe of Jewish thespians attempt to put on a show to keep up morale, all while a brutish Nazi soldier keeps an eye out menacingly.
A Toast
Both the production design and cinematography in this period piece are apt in evoking the sense of dreariness that permeates through the ghetto and capturing the congested conditions that the oppressed communities find themselves in during the horrors of war and genocide. The plot points as the story progresses, such as the conflicted love story between the lead pair of Stefcia and Edmund, too, are compelling enough.
Apart from this, the chemistry between Stefcia and Edmund (played respectively by Clara Rugaard and Ferdia Walsh Peelo) bodes well in favour of the movie and the musical score as well as musical interludes are yet another highlight. Magnus Krepper as the villainous and fearsome Sergeant also turns in a performance that is effective enough to strike fear in one’s heart (albeit slightly hammy).
Beer Two
The movie is far too slow moving and could have benefited from better pacing.
Beer Three
Rugaard’s acting chops are underwhelming and while she shows terrific skill as a singer, she lacks conviction in the more emotionally intense sequences. Her stilted dialogue delivery is yet another drawback. The supporting performances from the ensemble (playing the audience and fellow thespians) also tend to veer into overdramatic territory, especially in climactic situations.
Verdict
Love Gets a Room is a stirring effort in bringing to the fore the struggles of its oppressed protagonists and imparting how a positive ‘the show must go on’ mentality can and will triumph above all else.
