Art involves many mediums, including drawing, painting, writing, music-playing, and any other form of creative expression. Oscar Wilde famously remarked that art is useless, but some people enjoy art simply because it could be literally visually pleasing eye-candy. That is one of the main ideas of the drama Mona Lisa Smile.
A Toast!
This is a very charming film that has a nice touch of feminism. It encourages empowerment via education. Julia Roberts is radiant, especially since she starred in this film right after she won an Academy Award by playing the eponymous Erin Brockovich.
Beer Two
Unfortunately, several critics, including Roger Ebert, lambasted this film because of its historical inaccuracies.
Verdict
Art history might involve the study of artwork ever since the dawn of time, but remember that not all movies about art carry artistic merit.
