Bringing us something experimental, Mother Yeti’s My Best Please offers plenty in the way of psychedelia, rock, and Americana. Maybe that shouldn’t be surprising as the band hails from the Northwest where many of the best creative musicians seem to come from. My Best Please takes a few listens to appreciate, but once you have it ingrained, you just want more and more from Mother Yeti.
The 12 tracks on My Best Please have little resemblance to each other, but that’s what you do when you’re experimenting. The desired results are achieved and while not every track can be considered a winner, there are far more hits than misses. Mother Yeti does present to the masses a unique release that’s hard to categorize or even describe, which makes it one of its good qualities.
The title track “My Best Please” is really one of, if not the standout track with it’s traditional folksie/rock vibe, a true Americana-type tune. “Graceful Space” has a very nice, spacey feel, while “Roller Blade Shades” has plenty of soul and funk sounds.
You’re going to get a lot thrown at you and maybe not everyone will love it, but if you want to hear something fresh and unique, My Best Please is a good one to listen to with two beers in hand.
