The Great Depression was one of the most depressing eras in American history (pun intended). In fact, socioeconomic status is still a central part of society, even in 2021. Nevertheless, sometimes rich people and poor people could still fall in love in spite of their differences. That is one of the main ideas in My Man Godfrey.

Nominated for six Academy Awards, this film is a timeless romance. Besides being a love story, this film features incredible acting from William Powell, Carole Lombard, Mischa Auer, and Alice Brady. Additionally, the screenplay honors the original novel by Eric Hatch. Finally, this film is a crowning achievement from director Gregory La Cava.
