An integral part of a film is its score. Indeed, the music of a motion picture can captivate audiences. Nevertheless, films with great music are not all musicals necessarily. One of the best films to highlight what it means to be a musician is ‘Round Midnight.
A Toast!
Even though this is not a lavish Hollywood musical, it is still a compelling drama. The score is so sumptuous that it earned a Golden Globe nomination and an Oscar statuette. Furthermore, this film features a powerful performance from Dexter Gordon for his portrayal of Dale Turner. This film is definitely a major milestone in cinematic history for both musicals and non-musicals.
Verdict
Sing the blues indeed!
