When people go to war, soldiers might have to leave family behind. Because of that unfortunate fact, life at home could have challenges. In fact, that was especially true during World War II. For example, the film Since You Went Away is a phenomenal example of that phenomenon.

Originally released in 1944, this film is very fitting for its World War II release date. Additionally, the film features amazing performances from Claudette Colbert, Monty Woolley, and Jennifer Jones. Aside from the acting, the film also features a lavish score, beautiful production values, and precise editing that includes special effects. Finally, this film deserved its Academy Award nomination for “Best Picture.”
