This film might have only earned one Oscar nomination, but that is because Shirley Knight excels in her supporting role. It is also ironic that Shirley Jones ultimately took home an Oscar statuette for Elmer Gantry. Not only is her performance captivating, but the film delves deep into controversial topics. Nevertheless, the film is a very vivid and lively drama that explodes with emotional power.
Verdict
This film adaptation of the celebrated stage play puts domestic violence and family problems front and center as emotional subjects worthy of discussion!
