Bette Davis had a film career unlike any other. Unfortunately, all people have to undergo aging. Nevertheless, aging does allow people to reflect on their lives, the past, and the unforeseeable future. That is the main theme of the film The Whales of August.
A Toast!
Based on the play by David Berry, the drama within this film is undeniable. In fact, the film features the talents of Bette Davis, Lillian Gish, and Vincent Price. Furthermore, Ann Sothern earned an Academy Award nomination for her supporting role as “Tisha Doughty.” Finally, this film is a powerful testament to the fundamental fact that life will inevitably end.
Verdict
No one lives forever, but this film can remind viewers about how precious life truly is!
