Darkness is oftentimes synonymous with the unknown. Some people believe that black is also a very frightening color. Audrey Hepburn might have achieved fame by wearing a beautiful black gown when she portrayed Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), but Hepburn did not shy away from films outside of the romance genre. One of the best performances of her career is in Wait Until Dark.
A Toast!
Based on Frederick Knott’s stage play, Terence Young directed one of the most thrilling films ever made. Audrey Hepburn earned her fifth and final Academy Award nomination as “Susy,” a recently blinded woman who has to endure dire circumstances and horrific situations. Alan Arkin offers a magnificent performance as Roat, a man who terrorizes Susy because of a doll stuffed with heroin. This film is definitely one for viewers who enjoy chills up their spines!

Needless to say, this film is very dark and very scary.
Verdict
Wait Until Dark might be one of the most dramatic and intense films ever made, yet it is undeniably thrilling.
