Agatha Christie remains an iconic mystery writer. Perhaps her most famous work is Murder on the Orient Express. Christie wrote narratives that are like Alfred Hitchcock thrillers. Her writing is very cinematic, and one of the best adaptations of her work is Witness for the Prosecution.

Nominated for six Academy Awards, this film is undeniably dramatic. The plot twists make this film comparable to a Charles Dickens novel. Charles Laughton excels as Sir Wilfrid Roberts, and Elsa Lanchester delivers what could be her best performance in this film. Billy Wilder masterfully directs and co-wrote the screenplay for this classic mystery.
