Change is the only constant. Nevertheless, some thematic elements remain timeless. That is especially true for modern literature. One of the best examples of a modern novel that explores universal themes is Under the Volcano, adapted for film in 1984.
A Toast!
First of all, Albert Finney definitely deserved his Academy Award nomination for this film. Not only that, but Jacqueline Bisset excels in her supporting role. Furthermore, the original novel by Malcom Lowry comes to life in this brilliant adaptation. Finally, this film features a beautiful score from composer Alex North.
Beer Two
Unfortunately, this film features quite a bit of alcohol consumption.
Verdict
This film is more appropriate for adults, but at least the alcoholic content in this film is perfect for MovieBoozer!
