Some parents would encourage their children to pursue their passions. Nevertheless, passion could result in disintegration. That also applies to passion for the arts, and not just tragic romances. Nevertheless, that tension does result in dramatic stories. One of the best examples is Billy Elliot.
A Toast!
First of all, this remains a classic for all time, and not just for the twenty-first century. Furthermore, Julie Walters earned nominations at the Golden Globe Awards and the Oscars for her supporting role. Additionally, the screenplay that Lee Hall wrote for this film is superb. Finally, this is one of the crowning achievements from director Stephen Daldry.
Verdict
The Broadway adaptation does feature amazing songs, but the original film is still a compelling drama!
