First of all, American history is just about as rich as American cinema. In fact, cattle drives were important way back then. Because of such an enduring legacy, it is not surprising that a Hollywood film would take place during that rich time period. In fact, a film that does that is Red River.

Nominated for two Academy Awards, this film is a classic in its own right. Furthermore, this film features acting from both John Wayne and Montgomery Clift. Additionally, the precise editing helps bring the original short story, “The Saturday Evening Post” to life. Finally, this film has one of the best scripts ever written, and the film itself deserved its Oscar nomination for its amazing screenplay.
Verdict
Ultimately, Red River is a classic like the song, “Moon River,” except Red River does not feature Audrey Hepburn!
