James Whale pioneered the horror film genre. His directing credits included Frankenstein (1931) and The Invisible Man (1933). Because of his versatility as a director, Whale did more than produce classics based on literary horror. One example is The Old Dark House, released in 1932.
A Toast!
First of all, this film features some of the best performers from the 1930’s. In fact, this film features Boris Karloff as “Morgan” after his success of playing Frankenstein’s iconic monster. Furthermore, the cast includes Gloria Stuart as “Margaret Waverton” decades before she portrayed “Old Rose” from James Cameron’s Titanic (1997).

Even though this film is a classic in its own right, it unfortunately features a rather revealing outfit (but this review will not spoiler that part of the film).
Verdict
Despite being somewhat creepy, please do try to enjoy this black-and-white classic!
