After the initial release of Boyhood in 2014, Oscar buzz started to circle around Patricia Arquette. That is a bit ironic since Ellar Coltrane was the male lead. Nevertheless, sometimes great men need support from inspirational women. A similar case happened with the release of Sunrise at Campobello in 1960.

Nominated for four Academy Awards, Greer Garson earned her final Academy Award nomination as Eleanor Roosevelt in this film. In fact, Garson won a Golden Globe award for her performance even though Elizabeth Taylor won the Oscar for Butterfield 8. Aside from Garson’s leading performance, the production design and costumes had style and a meticulous attention to historical detail. Ralph Bellamy is also excellent as Franklin D. Roosevelt even though Greer Garson had more star power than him.

Sometimes leading ladies really do lead the way in the films that they star in!
