It is undeniably challenging to work in Hollywood. After all, show business IS a real business! Nevertheless, films about film-making are nicely meta-fictional. One of the best examples is the 1992 classic The Player.
A Toast!
Nominated for three Academy Awards, this film is a modern classic. In fact, Tim Robbins won a Golden Globe Award for his leading performance in this film. Furthermore, Michael Tolkin brilliantly adapts his original novel for the silver screen. Finally, this film is definitely one of the best from director Robert Altman.
Verdict
Sometimes a “player” is a real “playa” (pun intended)!
